I’m not using book tags to avoid my demon essay!
How could you accuse me of such a thing?
Emer tagged everyone (basically) in the Book Blogger Confessions Tag, so I GET TO DO IT NOW.
THAT’S WHAT IT MEANS.
1. Which book, most recently, did you not finish?
I DNFed Inland.
I’ve been waiting on a follow-up from this author for a while, but I didn’t feel like rushing through it, I wasn’t feeling the setting, I had spooky novels to read…so I passed.
FOR NOW. I’ll probably come back to it!
2. Which book is your guilty pleasure?
Okay. I admit it, even though it PAINS ME.
….Carry On isn’t very good.
I RECOGNIZE THAT…and I still love it.
I love it so much.
3. Which book do you love to hate?
I haaaaaate Before I Let Go.
TO THIS DAY, this book gets SO MUCH PRAISE for the rep.
BUT IT’S NOT GOOD.
I WILL TELL THE WHOLE WORLD!!!
4. Which book would you throw into the sea?
See ya never, Wayward Son.
This wasn’t an acceptable sequel, Rainbow Rowell. Throw it out and start over.
5. Which book have you read the most?
Either The Princess Diaries or The Boyfriend List.
I reread them ALL THE TIME.
6. Which book would you hate to receive as a gift?
As a general rule, don’t gift me dating advice books, please.
DEFINITELY don’t gift me The Man God Has For You by Stephan Labossiere.
I don’t agree with soulmate theology! I’d LIKE to – I like “The Origin of Love” as much as anyone else – but it’s neither realistic nor inclusive and people ALREADY overspiritualize romance ENOUGH AS IT IS.
From reviews, it sounds like the advice boils down to, “HAVE YOU TRIED PRAYING TO THE LORD FOR A HUSBAND?”
While Labossiere does hold men to a high standard, he seemingly holds women’s singleness against them. I don’t want to go into all of the problems I have with this, but I HAVE A LOT.
Also, Stephan, I’m bi. My last partner was a woman. Who says God has a man for me at all?
WHO SAYS GOD HAS ANYONE FOR ANYONE??
UUUUUUGGGGHGHH. I’M SO FRUSTRATED.
7. Which book could you not live without?
ANY. NEW. BOOK.
I’m always looking for my new favorite book/character/ship/plot/world/what have you.
I rarely find it…BUT I KEEP SEARCHING.
8. Which book made you angriest?
I didn’t notice the racism present in Eleanor and Park when I tried reading it.
I read some reviews recently that specifically addressed the racism and HOT DAMN.
And now it’s getting a film adaptation!
What are the chances the powers-that-be cast Emma Stone as Park?
Or Scarlett Johansson?
Jake Gyllenhaal? I HAVE MORE SUGGESTIONS.
9. Which book made you cry the most?
I started crying on page 150 of The Dream Thieves and I did not stop.
It’s too good.
Too many of my emotions are tied to this book.
I love it best of all the books in the series.
10. Which book cover do you hate the most?
Know why I’ve never read Vampire Academy?
THIS STUPID-LOOKING COVER.
It really bothers me how much the cover model looks like Angelina Jolie, who is an ADULT.
I think it sets the wrong tone.
Throw this book under guilty pleasure FOR SURE.
My last confession: I don’t know how to end this post.
I’m tired.
Would you like to confess something?
You can!
HAHAHA I am not taking the blame for your essay avoidance issues 😂😂😂😂
