What’s an underrated read you’d recommend EVERYONE to read?

Strange Planet needs more attention.

Strange Planet

The concept is kind of hard to describe: it’s a look at all the bizarre things humans do from the perspective of aliens.

For instance, suntans = star damage.

I CRAVE STAR DAMAGE.

Do you like book series, or do you prefer standalone reads?

I wish all books were standalones instead of planned series.

I’d rather a surprise sequel than wait years for a series to update.

What are some of your favorite book-to-movie (or tv show!) adaptations?

I understand Shadowhunters is bad. I love it anyway.

I also love BBC’s The Musketeers, the millionth adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers.

Jojo Rabbit, I learned, was based on a book. This movie definitely deserved Best Adapted Screenplay.

Do you have any reading goals for this year?

I would like to finish all the unread books I own by the end of the year.

I’m down to 71 books.

What’s your favorite thing about your book blog? TIME TO SHOWER YOURSELF WITH LOVE. ❤

I like my all-caps rants.

I gave up on objectivity a long time ago and I think my blog is better for it.

What’s your favorite place to interact with the bookish community? (comments, twitter, instagram…)

I like making friends in the comments section.

The comments sections on book blogs tend to be positive and friendly places, which is not true very often on the internet!

Do you have a favorite song?

I love listening to “Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat” on the Cats soundtrack.

I routinely send my coworkers the lyrics from this song or tell them to “peep my Spotify” so they can see Skimble on my playlist.

They hate it! It’s great!

What are some of your favorite bloggers (bookish or not)?

Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books has the most perfect graphics. Her posts look so polished.

May @ Forever and Everly gives the best YA recommendations, especially with regards to queer lit.

Mari @ Story and Somnomancy creates adorable mini reviews that are easy to devour.

If you could live any place in the world, imaginary or not, where would it be?

I have a very specific image in my mind that either came from The Holiday or an internet stock photo. Here is my dream:

I would like to live in a cottage in England that looks out on a country road.

I have a view from the kitchen that I look out on while I drink tea.

Since I’m from the States, I’m fairly certain this is a romanticized view of England and not a reality.

…maybe I’m picturing the house from Little Women?

I DON’T KNOW WHERE THIS CAME FROM.

Describe your perfect reading nook!

I fully blame Ang Lee for this fantasy.

My ideal reading nook would fit perfectly in the big fancy house from Sense and Sensibility.

The walls have white, blue, and gold wallpaper and carpeting. There’s a piano, probably, and bookcases everywhere (but with books I would actually read; none of these boring classics or fancy first-editions.)

There’s a wide window seat with blue cushions set in front of a window that looks out on a lawn.

The chances of me owning property are slim. I still dream.

  1. Thank you for tagging me! Woof, your questions, this is going to be hard but fun haha!
I’ve wanted to start the Shadowhunters series for years now… and every time I think I’m about to… I just can’t pull myself to. One day I’ll try. I’ve been told to at least give it a try!
I like your all-cap rants too… they make me smile because I’m usually nodding in agreement. Even if I don’t know the books you’re talking about I still very much enjoy reading your thoughts because your so passionate, and I’m all for it! 😀

    1. Haha you’re welcome! My job is to torture you, apparently.
Shadowhunters is…bad. It is also fun. I haven’t watched season 3 still because the first episode was so scary.
Aw, thank you! I’m glad my passion isn’t off-putting!
Can’t wait to see your answers! 🙂

      1. HA! It is… where do you come up with these questions!?

Huh, interesting. I’m interested, but I can’t seem to commit… maybe soon I’ll try episode 1… maybe.

Oh gosh no, trust me… from someone who is passionate, nope not off-putting at all, very welcoming!
Alright, off to go finish the tag… 😂😅

  2. Ahhh thanks so much for nominating me! ❤ Love all your questions!

I've only flipped through Strange Planet but it's HILARIOUS. And I obsessed with your vision of a perfect reading nook. That sounds so perfect and peaceful! Thanks, Sense & Sensibility.

Strange Planet is so bizarre and I love it! The vibrating cat makes me giggle.

Sense & Sensibility is aesthetic goals. You did it, Ang Lee! You made us love fancy English things!

    1. Haha thank you for the BB-8 gif! The words “prequel” and “sequel” are SUPER tied to Star Wars for me, so I just assumed they would be for everyone else.

Some of your answers surprised me! I usually prefer to villains to become friends. There are cases, though, where I agree with you – especially with a really awful villain who needed to die a long time ago. Also, I feel like some villains do both: become friends, then die. It’s a whole thing.

I really like unexpected betrayals! They get me riled up and I feel like the impact lasts longer! I did just read a book with some Surprise Near-Deaths and I was QUITE UPSET!

I really enjoyed your answers! Awesome job!
