I thought I was the only person who measured my worth in productivity.
Apparently that behavior is much more common than I thought!
Sam created this book tag and I love it SO much.
(Go admire her new graphics.)
Talking about books is productive.
Right? Right. Shush.
Planning | A book that is completely thought out
Belinda Blinked 4 is a gorram masterpiece.
Rocky Flinstone plotted for once!
He even added plot twists!
Can you believe!?
Focus | A book that kept your undivided attention
I kept seeing Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me on queer booklists and assumed it was just another YA contemporary.
Then, to my utter confusion, I found it in the graphic novel section at Secret Garden Books.
That changed everything.
I finished this book in about 20 minutes and screamed, “HOLY SHIT!” in response to the events on 219.
I got invested.
Delegating | A book that should have been a series
Life and Death might have worked better as a series.
I would have liked seeing Meyer gender-swap the entire Twilight saga.
The current ending to this book feels forced.
Meyer needed more room to explore the themes she lobbied so hard for in the book’s introduction.
Small goals | Name a book below 150 pages that you loved
This is the cutest book on queer and trans identities you will ever read.
The information inside is ACTUALLY HELPFUL and easy to follow.
I’m into it!
Peak Hours | A series you could only read at a certain time
I’m in the middle of a number of very intense books.
I can only read Trust Women: A Progressive Christian Argument for Reproductive Justice, The Power, and Eating Animals when I’m feeling emotionally well.
In other news, I may never finish The Hate U Give. (Should I just accept that and move on?)
Lists | A book that you finally crossed off your TBR
I read The Dept. of Speculation after years of keeping it on my shelf…and I loved it! Really!
Glad I finally finished a book I purchased FOUR YEARS AGO!
Now to finish the thousands of other books I own.
Proactive | A book that is/was ahead of its time
I wasn’t ready for David Levithan’s Every Day.
His gender-bending, body-surfing protagonist made me question everything I believed about gender, sexuality, and souls.
I did not like having my beliefs challenged by YA fiction.
While I’m still not the biggest fan of Levithan’s books, I admire the work he did with this one. This book spawned a film that I really enjoyed.
Declutter | A series you wish you could unread
I wish I could unread either Fruits Basket or The Princess Diaries series.
I want to experience the joy of reading both series for the first time.
Multi-tasking | Books that you read at the same time
I don’t care to mention how many books I’m in the middle of currently.
No, thank you.
Work on this tag and cross it off you’re list.
You’ll feel great afterward.
