Spyro Book Tag

Yes, I’m back.

I haven’t exactly figured out how to work daily on my WIP.

I’m stuck in that first-draft paralysis of, “Are these characters problematic? Is my representation on point? Should I give up and start over?”

It’s not a fun place to be, but I think it will pass.

I’m trying not to judge myself for it.

I also stand by something Maggie Stiefvater described; when I’m feeling only 50%, I’m not likely to get a lot done on my WIP.

If you think these sound like excuses, YOU’RE RIGHT.

I wanted to WIPE AWAY all those feelings with a video game from my childhood.

I never played Spyro myself (too stressful), but I loved to watch my brother Nathan roam about the countryside as a purple reptilian creature.

(A lot of my childhood involved watching Nathan play video games.)

Without further ado…

If. You. Haven’t. Read. Letters. From. Camp…

you. Need. To. Immediately.

I couldn’t remember a thing about this book for years except the characters.

The kids band together to destroy a hateful camp and I have never been more proud.

I, the natural enemy of the cliffhanger, loved the ending of Truly Devious.

truly devious

I have to know what happens next.

Paperback release of The Vanishing Stair coming very soon… (Well, not exactly, but I’m willing to wait.)

This Will Grayson, Will Grayson cover is very vague and recalls the very boring Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List.

David Levithan has a specific aesthetic, I guess.

I like this equally-vague-but-seriously-cute redesign.

This cover has more of a John Green flavor.

I’m not much for dragons.

I might have had an interest earlier in life, but dragons far from my favorite magical creature.

I initially picked Drake from the Avalon: Web of Magic series, but you know who I REALLY love?

Spike from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Spike is a straight-up role model.

Spike knows what’s up.

Spike once let greed turn him into a monster.

I can relate.

I would love to live in Rivendell.

How happy would you be if you could live in a city with lovely architecture AND beautiful views AND waterfalls AND hot people?

(Are there waterfalls in Denver?)

And, I’m guessing, great food.

Although, maybe not? Maybe cuisine is the elves’ weakness?

I didn’t want to love How to Be Alone as much as I did.

Lane Moore’s writing is so heartfelt.

Through her essays, I got closure for a relationship that’s been haunting me for several years.

That healing was truly unexpected yet so necessary.

Thank you, Lane.

I don’t mind launching unequivocal hate at the Tweeter-in-Chief briefly mentioned in Hope Never Dies.

Hope Never Dies

“Villain” might be a strong word (…or not), but his presence looms over the book’s proceedings.

Someone get this idiot out of office.

I’m currently enjoying Becoming Dangerous: Witchy Femmes, Queer Conjurers, and Magical Rebels.

The power rituals begun after the 2016 election SPEAK TO ME.

Also, I love the content warnings provided in the table of contents.

It is not too much to want to prepare yourself for difficult reading.

(I have no memory of these Spiro characters.)

Hey! Let’s go old-school!

You know who I like? The sisters from Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister.

I love Iris and Ruth.

And Clara. Include her, too.

These Witches Don’t Burn comes out in less than two weeks!!!!!

New plan: drop everything and read this book when it arrives.

My routine has been odd for the last little while, i.e., I haven’t established a new normal since my partner returned from her hike.

I’ll keep writing things and see what happens.

    1. It’s so pretty, though! Don’t know if you played video games, but this tag was really fun and I love this series’ graphics more than life. *Gollum whisper* Do ittt…

      1. Honestly, fair. I feel like a lot of women growing up didn’t have access to video games unless they had brothers. ALTHOUGH there were some sick Barbie horse games. 🤔 I’ve never played Guild Wars but I would like to play more games via PC.
