I was still very relieved when Jenna tagged me in this fantasy-themed tag.

I don’t read as much fantasy as perhaps I once did.

What DO I read?

What even QUALIFIES as fantasy?

Does it TRULY matter?

I plan to explore NONE of these questions in the following tag.

One: 5-Star Book

I must have mentioned this book a dozen times last year.

I was completely enamored with The Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

I normally don’t care for worldbuilding, but Taylor’s world is SO well-done.

Not the biiiiiiggest fan of the romance, but the writing is so great I don’t mind all that much.

 

Two: Always Going to Recommend

OCTOBER IS COMING SOON.

THAT’S WHEN TRAINING FOR THE SCORPIO RACES BEGINS.

Yes, The Scorpio Races is still my favorite novel and I will NEVER STOP RECOMMENDING IT.

How am I going to make time for The Scorpio Races, The Raven Cycle, Call Down the Hawk, AND Wayward Son?

I don’t want to think about it.

 

Three: Own It But Haven’t Read It

I just read Julia Ember’s The Seafarer’s Kiss, which reminded me that I STILL haven’t read Daughter of the Pirate King.

I like badass pirate ladies and seafaring. I don’t know WHY I’ve been avoiding this one, but here we are.

 

Four: Would Read Again

I might read They Both Die at the End again one day.

Maybe.

I need time to recover.

 

Five: In Another World

I need to return to the Graceling universe soon.

Monsea, my favorite location of the series, inspired the sea kingdom setting of my nascent fantasy novel.

Bitterblue is, in some ways, even harsher than the other books in the series.

It’s still my favorite.

Did I seriously get rid of my hardback?

I…regret that choice.

 

Six: Back on Earth

All the action in These Witches Don’t Burn happens on planet Earth.

The characters run occult shops and wear cute sweatshirts.

Straight dudes try to “convert” lesbian characters.

At least one parent dies.

IT’S FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

That was quick.

I’m now thinking of all the books I have yet to read.

I haven’t been sleeping this week, so the prospect sounds daunting.

I need a nap.
