Meghan’s Questions

How many books do you want to read this year?

I reduced my very ambitious January 1st goal to a more manageable 200 books.

I started 200 books last year and finished around 160, so I know it’s possible.

What’s one thing you are planning to leave behind in 2019?

Work exhaustion!

I added a new schedule and a lengthy commute to my work-life last year and it wore me out.

I’m switching back to a 5-day schedule so I can cook and rest and read and not spend my entire weekend catching up on sleep.

What’s something you’d like to do/or gain in 2020?

I’d like to write a second draft of my NaNo novel.

The editing process feels very daunting at the moment, but also possible.

It would be cool to present a finished project for my friends and family to read.

It’s nice to be important but it’s important to be nice. What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?

Tough call.

A friend invited me to a movie while I was off in the forest at someone’s lake house.

I told him I didn’t have access to a car.

Said friend drove from Bremerton to Shelton to pick me up.

A different friend used to go all out for my birthday. I remember one year she color-coordinated all the ribbons and wrapping paper so I’d get gifts in my favorite colors.

It was a really thoughtful detail.

What are your hopes for your blog in the next year?

What can I say that doesn’t sound too full of myself?

It would be cool to hit 500 subscribers.

OR MORE.

500 is a good goal, though.

Who or what are you most grateful for in life?

I have a lot of things to appreciate.

My family has been very supportive in the past year and I’ve had a lot of fun trying new restaurants and playing Drawful with them.

I have very kind friends who like to geek about the silliest things with me, even if that thing is Cats.

For once, I really like where I’m living. I can see myself here for a while.

Last, but not least, I am grateful for candles.

They inspire me.

Who is your favourite musician/band/singer?

These are hard questions!

I like Taylor Swift more than many people expect.

I use the band COIN on a lot of my playlists. They are wonderful.

I am anxiously awaiting a WALK THE MOON album.

Halsey and Jon Bellion have songs that make me teary.

I like AJR a lot.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Twin Temple lately. Don’t tell my mom.

What would you like to be remembered for?

I read Lindy West’s The Witches Are Coming recently and I really loved West’s voice.

The Witches Are Coming

Like West, I want to be remembered for my ideas and my writing style.

I want people to quote my insights and fondly recall my creativity.

I used to spend a lot of time on Book Twitter.

Recently, though, I’ve decided to take a break.

Twitter was bumming me out.

I’m getting my book recommendations mainly from blogs now.

Random question: do you have a specific mug for specific beverages? Ex. a mug only for coffee, a mug only for tea, etc.? (I can’t be the only one!)

Listen, Meghan: I own a lot of mugs.

A LOT of mugs.

And I keep buying more, because I’m a masochist, apparently.

I DO have special purposes for my mugs.

FOR INSTANCE:

My 20 oz mugs are strictly for coffee. Those help wake me up on a sleepy Saturday.

My brother bought me two Pokemon mugs with tea-related puns, so those are obviously for tea.

Then there’s the “Village Witch” mug I bought for NaNo. I use that one specifically while writing.

Questions for you:

  1. Have you ever quit a fandom because it got too toxic? (What up, Star Wars?) If so, which one was it and what was the final straw?
  2. If forced to read a genre you don’t pick up often for a month, which genre would you choose?
  3. Describe your blogging space. Do you blog in multiple spaces?
  4. Cooking: a fun experiment or a tedious waste of time?
  5. Someone just offered to make you your favorite drink and play your favorite movie. What are you drinking and watching?
  6. What’s your favorite part of your morning routine?
  7. Which recent bestseller do you feel is overrated?
  8. Which recent bestseller do you feel is underrated?
  9. How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
  10. What song gets you pumped up? Would you listen to said song on loop while writing?

That’s all from me today. I should go cook, a chore I consider both tedious AND a fun experiment.

BOOM, I JUST GAVE YOU A FREEBIE ANSWER. Good luck with the rest of the questions!

  1. HA! As always I loved this! 😂
Ok! I have a lot of mugs too… at work alone I have 3 and travel mug… because I need one for coffee, one for tea, and the other is for hot chocolate because I can’t DARE to be multi-purpose when it comes to my mugs… I was merely curious if anyone was as anal as I am when it comes to using mugs… trust me I have SO many at home… I honestly don’t need them all but they look so pretty!
Good luck reading 200 books, my god that sounds like a challenge! Also good luck with your writing! 😀

    1. Haha thank you! ☺️

Mugs are so tempting! There’s so much to consider! What if I get a new fandom? What if I find a pink mug in the perfect size? And I hear you, I feel somewhat disgusted when I have to use my travel mug for TEA, even when I know it’s clean!

Thank you for the well-wishes! 🙏🏻 So far I’m on track for one of these goals!

      1. You’re welcome!

Mugs are tempting! They come in so many pretty colours and shapes, UGH! I almost started collecting the Starbucks ‘You are Here’ mugs… and I went I can’t do this… I have one, I shall refrain from buying anymore!
Haha, at least you can do it, I can’t make myself use a mug that is not designated for it’s beverage. I’ve walked to the kitchen, found no hot chocolate… walked back to my desk and got my tea mug… YES I’ve done that… NO shame!

Yay! One is better than nothing! 🙂
