New Year’s Eve Book Tag

ANOTHER DANCE, ANOTHER WAY, ANOTHER CHANCE…ANOTHER TAAAAAAAG.

It was Chinese New Year not too long ago, so…happy New Year! This tag is still relevant!

If you don’t know about Jenna from Bookmark Your Thoughts, she is awesome. She leaves the kindest comments, finds great book tags, and buddy-reads pirate novels with me.

Which reminds me…JENNA, A NEW PIRATE NOVEL JUST CAME OUT AND IT LOOKS REALLY GOOD.

Anyway.

Good As Hell || Favourite Book

I SEE WE’RE STARTING OFF WITH THE SOFTBALL QUESTIONS.

COOL, COOL, COOL.

I looked over my list of 2019 favorites and In the Dream House was the ultimate winner.

In the Dream House

It was so FREAKING good.

I can’t stop talking about this book.

If you’ve experienced intimate partner violence, proceed with caution.

Green Light Go || Green Cover

Let me go PULL UP MY GOODREADS and see if I READ ANY GREEN BOOKS in 2019.

(Add me on Goodreads.)

WELL, WELL, WELL. IT TURNS OUT I READ A GREEN BOOK AFTER ALL.

IT JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITES.

TYSI

Did I talk about Technically, You Started It too much last year?

Possibly…but CAN YOU BLAME ME??

LBD || Sexiest Character

Ooh…let me pull up my 2019 spreadsheet.

I’m SURE there’s a sexy character in there somewhere.

Okay, hold the phone.

MORE PEOPLE NEED TO APPRECIATE HUGO FROM DREAM DADDY.

Dream Daddy DND

WHAT’S KEEPING YOU FOOLS FROM GETTING DOWN WITH THE TWEED?

Hugo tries to keep his friends in line. In real life, I would find that tiresome. In fiction, I find it fascinating.

HUGOOOOOO!

Dally || Best Moment of 2019

I hosted my first improv show in late 2019 and it went way better than I expected.

I would MUCH rather host than muddle my way through a long-form show.

Hosting combines my need for control with my love of performance.

I changed my clothes between acts because I am a charming nut.

Sin Querer Queriendo || Silly MC (or Side Character)

I hated Helen Burns in the original Jane Eyre.

My Plain Jane made her not just tolerable, but funny.

My Plain Jane

We all need a sassy ghost friend like Helen.

7 Rings || New Books Friends

Well, shoot.

I’ve connected with a lot of people in the blogging community over the last year.

(I even found out that one of them is local? That was a surprise.)

I also made friends during NaNoWriMo and joined a bi-monthly writing group.

It’s nice to have a friend.

(A note to Taylor Swift: definitely your weirdest song.)

Kill This Love || First Book in 2020

Magic for Liars was both my final book of 2019 and my first book of 2020, as I read the final pages after midnight on January 1st.

Magic for Liars

I loved this book. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a slow-burn mystery about identity and sisterhood.

IT’S THE YEAR OF THE RAT.

Now I have Al Stewart stuck in my head and that’s not what I wanted.

Author:

She/her. Lover of cheese and performative angst. I love to call out, complain, overreact, analyze, and reimagine. This site contains the fruit of that labor.

    1. You’re welcome! Festive tags are bestive tags!

TYSI is super fast, so if you ever have 90-minutes of free time you can probably knock it out. And my friend who has opposite reading tastes from me ALSO loved Magic For Liars, so I DOUBLE recommend it!

You hosted an improv show? That’s so cool!!! I never did improv but a lot of my friends did and loved it!

Helen Burns was my favourite in “My Plain Jane” — she’s flippin’ hilarious and a fantastic friend!!! I’m so happy with what they did with her character!

    1. Yeah, the theater I go to does an open mic night and they let me host! It was really fun! Improv in general of great because it’s pretty forgiving! You just have to go for it.

Helen is much improved in My Plain Jane! I can’t wait to see what the Lady Janies write next!
