The Modern-Day Christmas Song Book Tag

Happy Christmas, Harry!

Elli created an excellent Christmas-themed book tag complete with MUSIC VIDEOS?

You can view them in her post!

Anyway, she tagged me in this and I got to work on it right away.

Underneath the Tree by Kelly Clarckson

A book you want to find under the Christmas tree this year.

Katee Robert HERSELF recced The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen.

The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L Jensen

It’s a Forced Marriage/Enemies to Lovers fantasy romance.

I CRAVE it.

I’ve also seen some custom book jackets and interactive art for the ACOTAR series.

It’s pretty and fun. I want it all.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas by Michael Bublé

A book to get in the festive mood.

I would most like to reread The Starless Sea, as it’s very wintry.

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

Sadly, I don’t have my copy.

I do have alternatives.

BiblioNyan’s list of wintry reads included Mask of Mirrors.

The Mask of Mirrors by M. A. Carrick

I’ve heard so much about this book and now have it on hold at the library.

I also have some enemies to lovers romances to read during the holidays: The Councillor by E. J. Beaton and Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.

I haven’t read Hawksong in YEARS and I am loving it. Hawksong was the blueprint.

I’m not sure about The Councillor so far. It does have a bisexual protagonist, so there’s that.

Mistletoe by Justin Bieber

A guilty pleasure read you feel bad for liking so much.

In some ways, I feel silly about my obsession with Neon Gods.

Neon Gods by Katee Robert

It’s mafia-adjacent Greek mythology-inspired smut. I didn’t expect it to touch me emotionally.

I lent my copy to a friend and now I’m worried I both under- and oversold it.

One More Sleep by Leona Lewis

A book release you are/were counting down the days for.

There are MANY books I’m anxiously waiting for.

Here are some of my top 2022 releases:

Book Lovers, Electric Idol, and Weather Girl should come out in the first few months of 2022.

I’ve preordered Book Lovers and am slavering over the rest.

A few books that I believe come out later are House of Sky and Breath, The Night and its Moon, and the second World of Aureum book (haven’t read the first, desperately want to.)

Fantasy romance is truly the superior genre.

Christmas Lights by Coldplay

A book cover that looks as pretty as a christmas lights.

I didn’t try very hard for this question.

Look how pretty and festive the paperback edition of Piranesi looks!

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

Marmor Paperie created a marbled special edition of the book that I desperately want.

It’s a work of art.

8 Days of Christmas by Destiny’s Child

Which bookish character do you think gives the best Christmas presents?

The characters in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe get to MEET SANTA.

(Excuse me, Father Christmas.)

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis

From what I remember, Father Christmas hands out some great presents, including a sword and shield, a bow and quiver, and a bottle of symbolism.

I love that throughout the rest of the series, whenever this event is mentioned, the narration reminds us that Edmund didn’t get a present because he WASN’T THERE.

He was off being an anti-villain.

(Edmund and Eustace are my favorite characters.)

(Also, my favorite bit of Narnia trivia is that Skandar Keynes, the actor who played Edmund, is an atheist.)

(ALSO, Will Poulter played Eustace in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and now he’s hot. What a rollercoaster.)

Happy Christmas, Ron!

I hope you all are staying warm (or cool) in your different locales.

If you’re in need of a seasonal tag, I highly recommend this one!

I’m especially curious what books people are still waiting for.

I must know.

  1. Thanks for the tag! This looks like a lot of fun. I haven’t done a tag in a very long time, I think I’ll do this for the Holiday. 🙂
