The End of the Year Book Tag

It’s the end of the year! I guess!

I feel like every year for the last while has been “a weird year.” This one, though, was definitely weird.

For one, I’m at a new job that doesn’t make me want to die.

I’ve read fewer books so far this year compared to last year. Erotica and graphic novels are going to help me catch up.

I found this book tag at A Book Owl’s Corner. I do this tag almost every year and now is the time.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I started Babel: An Arcane History, Bi: The Hidden Culture, History, and Science of Bisexuality, and S. in September. I haven’t made much progress in any of them.

Which is a bummer! They’re really interesting reads! I just haven’t had the brain space!

As I mentioned above, I am reading erotica and graphic novels! Historical fantasy, nonfiction, and whatever the hell S. is are a little out of my depth right now!

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Every year, I mean to reread The Raven Cycle to usher in fall.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Every year, I manage not to.

Oh my god, it’s November.

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

It’s Scorpio Races season!

I have also been in the mood to reread Ninth House and The Wolf and the Woodsman, both of which feel like fall to me.

They’re both fairly brutal horror-adjacent reads that I, for some reason, find comforting.

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

Alison Cochrun’s Christmas romcom just came out.

Kiss Her Once for Me by Alison Cochrun

I put this one on my wishlist in the hopes that one of my family members will gift it to me.

Yes, I could buy it, but it’s almost Christmas.

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

I bought a bunch of e-books as a mood booster.

My top priorities are Muscles and Monsters, Prince of the Sorrows, and Reforged.

The covers should tell you everything you need to know.

I didn’t realize Reforged was a second chance romance, but you know what? I’ll take it.

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite of the year?

Ocean’s Echo is a strong contender, though it wouldn’t be much of a surprise.

A real shocker would be if The Scratch Daughters landed in my top ten at the last second.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2023?

I think, in 2023, I’m going to read more e-books.

Preferably short fantasy romances. I don’t have much bandwidth for other stuff.

E-books. It’s gonna be a thing.

I have more book tags coming down the pipeline. (Yes, they’re Midnights-themed.)

I’ll post my October wrap-up eventually. It’s been a time.

  1. Congrats on the new job! 🥳 I’m so glad you’re feeling happier there!

It’s also nice to see that you want to reread The Wolf and the Woodsman because I’m guessing that means it’s good 😁 It’s been on my radar for over a year now, so I really need to get to it!
