I didn’t realize there were Halloween songs.
At least, aside from the obvious.
Diana @ Fortunately, the book did this fun tag and even used Halloween-colored font.
I have to do all these spooky tags while I can.
Thriller: A book that was an absolute page-turner
Temper made me gasp dramatically.
THE TENSION.
I don’t NEED a sequel, but this book LEFT ME WANTING MORE.
Somebody’s watching me: A book that gave you the serious creeps
The first 80 pages of The Missing Season are seriously spooky.
The whole book has a downer tone, and the creepy love interest CERTAINLY ADDED TO THAT.
I didn’t finish this. Can someone spoil the resolution for me?
Vampire: A book you hated so much it was soul-sucking i.e incredibly tedious to get through
I have FINALLY seen negative reviews for Hot Dog Girl.
I feel vindicated.
I hated the humor, I think the bi rep was wasted, and the ending was so much better than the rest of the book.
MY BIGGEST BEEF: this book is VERY MUCH a first novel. I can see the good parts, but it needed a polish.
IT DOES NOT DESERVE ALL THESE FIVE-STAR RATINGS. A three-star rating is PLENTY generous.
I put a spell on you: A book featuring witchcraft or magic
THE THESE WITCHES DON’T BURN SEQUEL HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED!!!
THIS COVEN WON’T BREAK DROPS IN JUNE 2020.
LOOK AT THIS COVER ART.
I hope there’s plenty more Gemma. And Morgan.
…okay, and Veronica.
5. This is Halloween: Your favourite treat/ snack to eat while reading
I like Rice Krispie treats.
They’re sweet, crispy, individually-wrapped, and not too messy.
And sometimes they have chocolate drizzle!
However, they are SUPER not vegan (they’re not even vegetarian), so I don’t eat them anymore.
(Marshmallows trip me up. My favorite-ever ice cream flavor has marshmallows and marshmallows contain gelatin. Could we phase out gelatin, perhaps? Please and thank you?)
6. Timewarp: “Let’s do the time warp again” What book/ or books do you like to return to at this time of year?
It’s almost time for my yearly reread of The Scorpio Races.
He is slow, and the sea sings to us both, but he returns to me.
My love for this book cannot be contained.
7. Hungry like the wolf: A book you loved so much, you devoured
I didn’t know Padmé/Sabé fanfiction was my jam…
…but apparently it is!!
It’s Star Wars-y without being Star Wars-y.
8. The Addams Family: A book featuring a dysfunctional family
Elaine and Kevin Oliver are DISASTROUS parents.
Megan thinks they’re cute because they’re SO IN LOVE!
They’re also emotionally abusive and take turns abandoning their daughter, but sure.
9. Scary monsters (and super creeps): A book genre that you are scared or intimidated to pick up
I like the idea of literary fiction, but I don’t read it often.
I have flashbacks of writing papers on themes.
A professor of mine lambasted students who don’t read literary fiction, so I’m a bit bitter towards the genre.
10. The twilight zone: A book with a completely different and unique premise
Kay just did a review of Lifestyles of Gods and Monsters.
Revisiting a Greek myth using a reality TV show as a backdrop?
I…have not seen that done before.
Sounds like it could be good.
I just finalized my Halloween plans! I’m stoked!
And, by golly, there are still MORE fall/Halloween tags!
I’ve got a busy few weeks ahead of me.
OMG Lauren this looks like so much fun! I could see how these could be considered halloween songs but maybe a little bit of a stretch 😉 I love a lot of those songs though, so I don’t even mind it! I didn’t read Hot Dog Girl but after what you said, I don’t even want to anymore haha.

Hard agree! When I saw “Hungry Like a Wolf,” I raised an eyebrow, but I guess one could say it’s werewolf-related.
I WAS SO BUMMED ABOUT HOT DOG GIRL. A lot of people really liked it, so it’s kind of a gamble… At least the cover is pretty?

It looks really interesting! And I love Diana’s original tag – this type of Halloween tag never would have occurred to me!
