Halloween the First

Today marks the first day of Halloween.

I’ve never cared much for Halloween in years past.

This Halloween season, I vow to…

Listen to “Spooky, Scary Skeletons” ad nauseum

Dr. Stiig’s remix is my favorite version, but pick whichever one you like best.

Scream “I, JACK, the PUMPKIN KING,” and, “LOOK, they CONJURE!”

What else am I supposed to do with my time?

Watch ALL the horror movies

I started watching horror movies late in life.

“Late” as in…last year.

And now I can’t stop.

I’ve missed out on so many classics. I would like to catch up.

(I’m finally seeing Jordan Peele’s Us on Wednesday. I am very excite. I would wear all red if I owned any red clothing.)

Watch other Halloween classics

Except for It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! I hate that one.

But yes to The Nightmare Before Christmas and Hocus Pocus.

Maybe Halloweentown, too, another film I’ve never seen.

Actively avoid Ghostbusters because I hate it

I watched this movie for the first time in college and I LOATHED it.

I think it’s an overrated punch-downy bummer comedy cloaked in nostalgic haze.

My previous statement stands: I HATE ’80S MOVIES.

Did we get a great song and Halloween costume from this film? Yes.

Did Ernie Hudson turn in a fabulous performance? Yes.

Do I miss Harold Ramis? Of course.

My nice commentary ends there.

Rewatch Mindhunter

I might as well. What’s scarier than serial killers?

DON’T say demons!

You’ll never take me alive, Frank Peretti!

Put together a winning costume

Just kidding – I ALREADY HAVE.

I can’t tell you what it is, though.

I am almost a foot taller than the character I plan to portray, so I WON’T be wearing heels.

I really hope my team wins the costume contest this year.

Bake some delicious pumpkin cupcakes

I found a vegan recipe that looks simple enough!

Read spOoOoOoOoky books

You saw my fall TBR. I’ve got some scary books on there.

Binge creepy podcasts

Welcome to Night Vale and Within the Wires are my new backup podcasts.

Otherwise, I’m speeding through The Bright Sessions and desperately waiting for updates to The Passenger List.

Since Crime Junkie betrayed us all, I’ve been relying on True Crime Obsessed for true crime comedy content.

I’m working ten-hour shifts now. I need the distraction.

Happy Halloween!

Merry fall!

May the skeletons be with ye!
