Jingle Bell Book Tag 2019 Edition

I did this tag last year, but IT IS CHRISTMAS and Megan tagged me in it.

MY, HOW MY ANSWERS HAVE CHANGED.

Bells

1. “All I Want For Christmas Is You…” | What book do you want to see under the Christmas Tree?

I would be happy with any graphic novel on my list.

Bloodlust and Bonnets

Bloodlust and Bonnets would be especially exciting, but I will go for anything by DC Comics, the final Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: Eternal Edition, or To Be or Not to Be.

Just give me any book.

2. “Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time…” | What book that you have read this year have you enjoyed the most?

I loved every minute I spent reading Romeo and/or Juliet.

Romeo Juliet

I want to read To Be or Not to Be, but I’m afraid it won’t be as good.

3. “It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas…” | Which book has most festive look to it?

I’ve always thought Wendy Delsol’s Stork looked perfectly wintry.

Stork.jpg

I could not for the life of me figure out the plot of this book, but I just found out it’s about a cult of women in charge of pregnancy???

Why didn’t I devour this thing???

IT WAS A TRILOGY!?!? YOU’RE KIDDING.

4. Elf | What book unleashes your inner child?

GOL-DEN BOOKS! GOL-DEN BOOKS!

All of my favorite books growing up were Little Golden Books (including 1960 classic A Day on the Farm and/or any books that involved horses.)

One of my favorite Christmastime reads was the Little Golden Book of The Nutcracker.

Nutcracker

It’s a bowdlerized version of E. T. A. Hoffman’s Nutcracker and I MUCH prefer it to the original.

Give me that fluffy, dreamy, dancy romance!

5. The Grinch | Your favourite villain…

I appreciate Count Olaf for being so easy to hate.

Series of Unfortunate Events.png

No matter what, I knew he’d appear in every book to ruin the Baudelaires’ lives.

Good ol’ straight-forward villainy.

In the words of past Bible studies: “GOOD AND EVIL IN FICTION IS SO MURKY NOWADAYS.”

I don’t actually mind that trend…but villains like Olaf are easiest for me to remember.

6. The Holiday | Name your favorite TWO couples…

I think m/m Robin Hood/Will Scarlet is the BEST ship idea.

Elliot Wake wrote an amazing short story about them WITHOUT A FOLLOW UP.

All Out

I only write Will/Robin fanfic from now on.

(This is a lie. I have fix fic to write.)

My other favorite couple is a big spoiler for Call Down the Hawk.

BIG spoiler.

HUGE.

(Spoilers for Call Down the Hawk ahead!!)

(SERIOUSLY, DON’T LOOK)

I really like Declan and Jordan as a couple.

Call Down the Hawk

At the moment, a giant obstacle (or two) has been thrown in their way, but I STILL HAVE HOPE.

Unrelated: I am not into Jordan as a British character. Her accent in my head is stolidly American.

7. What book would you like to give as a present to your followers?

I’m sure everyone has already read Red, White, and Royal Blue, but I’d give free copies to everyone if I could.

RWRB

Except for my parents.

Or my grandparents.

Or my siblings.

Or my pastor.

Giving someone a sexy book is a loaded action.

Bells

HAPPY CHRISTMAS ADAM AND SECOND DAY OF HANNUKAH!

May you get all the books you desire…and all the books you deserve.

Some of you are going to get The Night Circus and it will be your own fault.

Author:

She/her. Lover of cheese and performative angst. I love to call out, complain, overreact, analyze, and reimagine. This site contains the fruit of that labor.

  1. Yay! 😀 I, as always, enjoyed reading this!
You know, as many times as I’ve read A Series of Unfortunate Events I’ve never hated Count Olaf… I don’t know I’ve never believed him as a true villain, like I’ve never seen him as terrifying, I don’t know. He’s always been comical to me and that’s why I’ve liked him.
