The End of the Year Book Tag 2021

Easy content! Easy content!

This is my third year in a row doing the End of the Year Book Tag. You can see my other answers here and here.

I’m traveling this month and skipping town next month, so the approaching end of the year currently feels like a madcap blur.

I’m holding onto book tags and Top Ten Tuesdays for some sense of structure.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I’m currently reading Sword Stone Table, The Angel of the Crows, and Truth of the Divine.

I’d prefer to finish those before the year ends.

Imagine me starting 2022 with a completely clean slate.

Do you have a book or autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

After complaining about the genre, I caved and bought a Christmas romance.

Here’s to Window Shopping hopefully getting me into the holiday spirit.

(Update: it did not!)

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

I preordered The Scratch Daughters earlier this year, wrongly assuming it would be released in November.

I haven’t received my copy yet.

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

I’d like to get to Light from Uncommon Stars, The Ex Talk, and perhaps Today Tonight Tomorrow before next year.

The first is an acclaimed sci-fi romance that has made a bunch of Best Of lists. The other two are by a Seattle author who has a new book coming out in January; I want to read her existing books before buying the new one.

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

Every now and again, I fall for a literary novel.

Transcendent Kingdom is therefore on the fast track to potential favorite.

I also have high hopes for Light from Uncommon Stars.

Let’s see what happens during the final two weeks of 2021.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2022?

I DO have plans for 2022.

Next year, I plan to do MORE mood reading!

I’m going to read MORE audio and e-books!

I’m also going to DNF MORE!

This last item is a recent development.

I fell into numerous reading slumps during 2021 and I think that was partly due to forcing myself to finish books I didn’t like.

I’m not going to do that anymore. I will now DNF for literally any reason.

I haven’t figured out how to manage the intense guilt I feel whenever I put a book down for good. We’ll see if that improves.

Sixteen days left in the year.

There are TOO MANY LOGISTICS to keep track of!

Wishing you all much survival.

  1. I hope you love Light from Uncommon Stars… that was just so beautiful and amazing, so sweet and hopeful despite some trigger warnings… but please don’t read it when you are hungry.. or atleast have something to snack on while reading it 😉😉😉
And hope you get to finish them all and start with a clean slate for the new year 👍👍

    1. Good advice – I’ll keep a snack on hand! Also I started the book but I’m afraid of being emotionally compromised so it is languishing.
I did NOT start with a clean slate but I’ve made my peace with it! Hope you’re doing well.

      1. I’m doing good Lauren… I hope you are well too… I can understand your apprehension about reading it, so just pick it up if you feel like it… or I hope you’ll find some other amazing one to read instead and I’ll look forward to finding out about it 😊😊
