Dessertathon TBR

Welp. I’ve done it. I joined a readathon.

The Dessertathon Readathon takes place over the month of June.

There are six teams broken up by genre: the Red Velvet Royals (myths and retellings), the Spicy Shortcakes (sexy books), the Cozy Cookies (romance/contemporary/cozy mysteries), the Pastry Pirates (adventure books), the Dessert Djinns (dark fantasy/horror), and the Celestial Cupcakes (sci-fi.)

I joined the Cozy Cookies, the Romance/Contemporary/Cozy Mystery team.

The points and prompts systems are fully explained in The Bookaholic’s Dessertathon Announcement Video.

Basically, our team is going to try to “bake” chocolate chip cookies by fulfilling a number of reading prompts.

It took me a while to decide on the books for my TBR.

I scanned my LGBTQIA+ and romance shelves and found some contenders.

Behold, my TBR:

Dessertathon TBR

Butter (Slippery)

Keeps sliding off your TBR

I received Detransition, Baby in a mystery box from The Novel Neighbor in January.

Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters

I meant to read it then.

I haven’t gotten around to it.

Sugar (Sweet)

Feel good book

One Last Stop made my comfort reads list last year.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

It’s PRIDE MONTH and the DESSERTATHON.

TIME FOR YET ANOTHER REREAD.

Vanilla (Standard flavor)

Book you keep saying you’ll read

I bought From Lukov with Love with a Target gift card I won at my brother’s baby shower.

From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata

I had every intention of reading it.

I mean to read EVERY book I buy.

Eggs (In a dozen)

Part of a series

I bought both of India Holton’s Dangerous Damsels novels.

The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton

I plan to read The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels for the readathon.

It has a pastel cover, so I must.

Flour (Back to the Basics)

Favorite genre

Fantasy is my favorite genre by far, particularly QUEER fantasy.

The Councillor by E. J. Beaton

I plan to reread The Councillor for this prompt because I love it so much.

Salt (Salty)

Tear jerker

Emily Henry reliably writes tearjerkers.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Book Lovers just came out and it’s time for me to read it and weep.

Chocolate Chips (Chocoholic)

Guilty pleasure

As nonsensical as it is, I kind of wish Black Moon Rising was Star Wars canon.

Black Moon Rising by Frankie Rose

I love this silly book so much.

Unlike OTHER Reylo books I could mention, this book understands the ship’s appeal.

I’m obsessed with it.

I’m still clamoring for a sequel.

Please.

I am NOTORIOUSLY bad at sticking to TBRS.

I am also, however, very competitive.

May the best team win…and may it be the Cozy Cookies.

  1. Ahhh have fun with this readathon! I wanted to take part but I got too lost trying to find books that fit all the prompts for one team… this is my problem with any readathon. You’re making me want to revisit this again though 🤔

    1. It’s challenging! I tried to join a readathon last month and then they had rules about book selection so I booounced. It’s hard enough trying to find books that fit!

Join usssss. Join the Cozy Cookies.
