I’m doing my best to summon fall.
It’s 80 DEGREES, today.
Are you JOKING? I’m supposed to be eating SOUP.
I don’t believe I did this tag last year, so here it goes.
Come on, fall. Bring your fog and your crisp afternoons.
I found this tag on Kristin’s blog with the following rules:
- Please link back to me, Bionic Book Worm, as the creator of this tag!! I want to see your answers!!
- Use the graphics – if you want 🙂
- Have fun!
(Content warning: rape culture, violence, misogyny)
I’ve had a low level of rage burning inside me since November 9, 2016.
For the last three years, I’ve inhaled memoirs, anthologies, speculative fiction graphic novels, and the like that criticize toxic masculinity, the presidency, and the patriarchy.
All of these incredibly written and important books cover very similar themes.
I’ve seen the same ideas repeated from book to book. The repetition can get old at times.
How do we keep the fight fresh?
Has anyone reimagined rape culture using period panthers yet?
This series didn’t go as far as I wanted it to, but the premise utterly charmed me.
Would recommend.
The third Eternal Edition of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon ended on a DEVASTATING cliffhanger.
I’m STILL mad about it.
It was STRESSFUL.
I am STRESSED.
Prayer is hard for me.
I struggle with praying the “right” way and sometimes don’t feel like praying at all.
(Also, advice like, “Just say the Lord’s Prayer,” isn’t helpful, FRANCIS CHAN.)
Anne Lamott’s book Help Thanks Wow boils down three essential prayers to their most basic forms.
I am so grateful for a place to start.
I keep seeing and hearing about The Ensemble.
Bestsellers don’t tend to do much for me, so I hesitate to read it.
It’s so PRETTY, though.
I keep thinking, in the very rare moments that I miss music and performance culture, that this would be a nice book to try.
Maybe.
The first volume of Monstress was…a lot.
The protagonist is on the run!
The villains hunt down anyone with magical abilities!
Decapitations are frequent!
Do you like amputations? You got ’em!
Have I mentioned the brand-new queer Edgar Allan Poe-inspired YA anthology?
I HAVEN’T???
I’m really trying to get into the Halloween spirit this year (starting…NOW) and this book is SURE TO HELP.
I love Poe. I can’t wait.
IT’S NOT WORKING.
THE SUN IS SHINING.
EVERYONE KEEP TRYING.
