Top 10 Best Avatar Episodes

1. The Ember Island Players

I tend to build things up only to be disappointed. That really amazing restaurant I went to was only so-so. That great book from my childhood wasn’t very well-written.

I built this episode up in my head. I remembered it hilarious, one of the best in the series.

I rewatched it and found it was better than I’d remembered. The jokes were funnier, the emotional moments more poignant; everything I thought I knew about this episode was proven right ten times over.

This episode is so much fun. The Gaang goes to a play that provides a spot-on recap of the show’s events. The characters’ reactions to the dramatized versions of themselves are priceless. The play itself offers some of the most quotable lines in the show. I love that the creators had fun with this episode, including a lot of nods to the fandom, such as a brutal mocking of Zutara. I can’t say I mind too much.

Jokes on you, Bryke, I still ship it.
Joke’s on you, Bryke, I still ship it.

Also, this happens:

“I just said I was confused!”

From Sokka giving his play counterpart joke advice to Toph showing affection through violence, I love everything about this episode. It’s one I look forward to watching.

Though all of the play is excellent, this is my favorite moment:

So there’s that. Let me know in the comments which episodes you loved (or hated). Zutara shippers get a discount at the snack bar.

  1. I agree with you about a lot of this. Although, I personally would have ranked Tales of Ba Sing Se a bit higher on the list. Nonetheless, I laughed and sobbed my way through this, so thank you.

  2. I feel the need to say… Sokka’s Master! It was funny how the rest of the kids were trying to make jokes as good as Sokka’s (and FAILING) and also how creative Sokka was in this episode. I also liked the one with the play, and The Headband. I just love that show! ((((:
